Barry’s Historical Tours have grown organically from his love of Irish History and Culture coupled with his knowledge of Dublin’s streets and alleys working as a policeman. The tours focus on distinct eras of Irish history, and have run every year since, typically fully booked within weeks of dates being announced.
His debut novel, The Notetakers, was published in 2025 after years of writing and research drawing upon his four decades in An Garda Síochána. Praised as a gripping, authentic historical thriller of 1916 Dublin, it was followed in 2026 by its acclaimed sequel, Burning Down the House.
Barry lives in Dublin with his wife Rena and two of their three adult children. He is working on his third novel, set during the Irish Civil War, and the 2025 and 2026 tour seasons.
